All data for transcription (electronic or hard copy) may be posted, hand-delivered, uploaded through an external file-sharing website or to the transcriptionshop.co.uk website.
The Transcription Shop accepts no responsibility for the security of any files uploaded using an external file-sharing web service.

Storage of Data

It will be stored for the duration of the transcription process with access to none other than the transcriber and his/her line manager. It shall be retained only up until such time as transcription has been completed, approved and paid by the client whereupon all original hard copy recordings shall be returned and/or any associated digital audio files along with any corresponding work-files deleted.
Confidentiality
The Transcription Shop treats all Client Material as confidential and take every precaution to protect the material from unauthorised access. The transcriptionshop.co.uk upload facility is SSL Certificate enabled to provide increased levels of security.
Each member of The Transcription Shop team is required to sign a legally binding confidentiality agreement, copies of which are held on file.
It is the client's responsibility to make Transcription Shop aware of the confidential status of the material being transcribed and to provide project-specific confidentiality agreements for signature if required.
Accuracy of Transcripts
We take great care to provide accurate and complete transcripts and pride ourselves on doing so. The process of transcription involves the initial entry of the recorded material, but is then subject to a 'second run through' which improves accuracy. However, we do not accept liability arising from inaccuracies which may howsoever occur.
Words or phrases which are inaudible will be clearly marked with a timestamp, our policy is that we do not guess what has been said, rather give our Client the opportunity to complete something which is inaudible, unintelligible or illegible.
As standard, we do not include every disfluency ('um', 'eh', 'er') or repetetive nuances ('like', 'you know') as they tend to disrupt the readability of the final document. These can, of course, be included, but an additional per minute charge will apply.
Delivery
The Transcription Shop undertakes to meet the delivery timescales agreed with the Client. However we do not accept any liability arising from the late or non-delivery of materials due to unforeseen or unavoidable circumstances.

You shall indemnify The Transcription Shop in respect of any loss, damages, costs (including reasonable legal fees), expenses or any other claims suffered by it and arising out of any libellous or illegal matter contained in any material which is presented to us for transcription. The Transcription Shop shall have no liability to you for any loss, damage, costs, expenses or other claims for compensation arising from any use by you of the transcribed or typed material for illegal or libellous purposes.
